Lost wallet or purse — immediate steps

The first moves to make when your wallet or purse goes missing — cards, ID, and protecting yourself from fraud.

A lost wallet or purse in Flagstaff / Sedona means two jobs at once: stopping fraud and replacing what's gone. The first hour matters most.

  1. Freeze your cards. Open each bank's app and freeze or cancel every debit and credit card. Most apps let you lock a card instantly and order a replacement.
  2. Check for unfamiliar activity. Review recent transactions and report anything you didn't make.
  3. Protect your identity. If ID was inside, take steps to guard against identity theft and consider a fraud alert or protective registration.
  4. Replace your ID and licence. Start replacements for your driver's licence or ID card through the relevant authority for your area.
  5. Retrace and report. Contact the last places you visited in Flagstaff / Sedona and report the loss to the police non-emergency line if it may have been stolen.
  6. Post a listing. Add a lost-wallet listing for Flagstaff / Sedona — many wallets are handed in and reunited this way.

Brass keys on red lanyard with pinecone charm

I lost my keys yesterday around 3pm near the Starbucks on Aspen Ave in Flagstaff. It's a brass house-key set on a red nylon lanyard with a small pinecone charm and a scratched silver car-key fob. One key has a dent in the blade and the lanyard is frayed; there's also a blue enamel tag etched with my initials 'AF.' These keys unlock my apartment and my work locker, and I really need them back—it's been stressful not having access to my place or my job. If anyone finds them, please drop them off at the Flagstaff Lost & Found near the downtown library or at the customer service desk of the Starbucks on Aspen Ave.

Keys on black ring with dragonfly charm

I lost my keys yesterday around 3pm near the Weatherford Hotel on Aspen Ave in Flagstaff. They’re on a black leather key ring with a green dragonfly charm and a tiny silver USB drive sticking out. There are two brass house keys and a car key with a chipped red plastic head—the ring is a bit worn from daily use. The dragonfly charm was a gift from my grandmother, so it feels really important to get them back. If anyone found them, I’d be incredibly grateful—these keys unlock my apartment and my work bag, and I was supposed to start a shift this evening.

Lost set of keys with a bright blue and green cactus charm keyring near Oak Creek Canyon lookout in Sedona.

I lost a set of keys while hiking near Oak Creek Canyon in Sedona. They have a bright blue and green keyring that has a small charm shaped like a cactus attached to it. They were last seen around one of the lookout areas, so if anyone finds them, please let me know. I've been really anxious about losing them as they have my house keys and a few important ones for work.
