Lost something on public transport?

How to track down an item left on a bus, train, tram, or taxi by contacting the right transport operator.

Items left on buses, trains, trams, and taxis around Fairbanks are usually handed in to the operator's lost property team — the trick is contacting the right one quickly.

  1. Identify the operator. Note the route, line, or company and the rough time. Each operator runs its own lost property process.
  2. Submit a lost property report. Use the operator's online form or phone line as soon as possible; recovered items are logged against your description.
  3. For taxis and rideshare, contact the driver or company directly through your booking or app receipt.
  4. Keep your reference. Save any report number so you can chase it up.
  5. Post a listing. Add a listing for Fairbanks in case a fellow passenger picked it up.

Lost brooches near Morris Thompson Cultural Center, Fairbanks

On a chilly afternoon around 4:20 p.m., February 18, 2025, I realized my two brooches were missing from my coat pocket while I waited outside the Morris Thompson Cultural Center in Fairbanks. The set includes a silver snowflake and a small sapphire-accented pin; they were gifts from my grandmother, and they carry a lot of memory. I had paused to take a photo near the riverside path, and by the time I checked again the brooches were gone. I hold onto hope a passerby picked them up and would consider returning them to the front desk of the center.

Lost driver's license in downtown Fairbanks

I’m Sophie Andrews. I’m visiting Fairbanks and holding onto a lot of worry about my Driver’s License. I sat down for a coffee at Kaladi Brothers on Cushman Street around 6:15 p.m. last Friday, and I must have left the license on the table outside the Morris Thompson Cultural Center while I checked my bag. It’s a standard blue card with my photo; I’m anxious because I need it for travel and IDs. I carried it in my wallet, and losing it has me feeling unsettled.

Black iPhone 12 Pro in blue OtterBox case

I lost my black iPhone 12 Pro yesterday around 3pm outside the Morris Thompson Cultural Center on Cushman Street in Fairbanks. It’s in a blue OtterBox case with a small maple-leaf sticker on the back, and there’s a noticeable crack along the top edge. The phone holds a lot of sentimental stuff—family photos, and a contact list for my sister—so I’m really hoping to get it back. I had last used it while grabbing a coffee at the shop next to the bookstore on Cushman before heading toward the library. If anyone found it, please text me; I’d be forever grateful to get it back.

Black Samsonite briefcase with red interior

I lost my black Samsonite briefcase outside the Fred Meyer on Airport Way in Fairbanks yesterday around 3pm. It's a slim, slightly scuffed black leather case with a brass name tag on the front engraved 'P. Patel' and a bright red microfiber lining that peeks out when the zipper opens. Inside, there are a handful of manila folders, a yellow legal pad, and a tiny USB-C drive labeled 'Q3 Proposal' tucked in the inner pocket. The case means a lot to me; it also holds some old photos from my grandfather, so I really need it back for work and keepsakes.

Giro MTB helmet with neon stripe (Fairbanks)

I lost my black matte Giro MTB helmet, size M, with a neon yellow stripe along the rim. Yesterday around 3pm I was biking from my apartment near the University of Alaska Fairbanks toward College Road, and I left it outside the Fred Meyer on College Road by the bike racks. It's a gift from my sister and I really rely on it for safe rides around town. There's a small scuff on the rear and two tiny scratches on the visor, plus the neon stripe makes it easy to spot if you’ve seen it.
