I was leaving a rehearsal at the Clemens Center on Main Street in downtown Elmira-Corning around 7:30 p.m. when a strap snagged and my tablet and a small phone slipped from my bag. The downtown lights glowed, and the scent of food from a nearby stand hung in the air as I realized they were gone.
