I found a small navy blue tin with a brass crest on the lid, lying on the cobbles outside a tiny antique shop on Victoria Street near Grassmarket, this afternoon. The tin is about 8x5 cm and the corner has a light dent. Inside there are about a dozen coins in clear sleeves—mostly copper with a few silver-toned pieces—from roughly 1900s to 1950s. A couple show a green patina, and one coin has a noticeable scratch across the portrait that makes it stand out. It clearly looked like a personal collection rather than random loose coins. If this belongs to someone, I’d love to help reunite you with it.
