Lost something on public transport?

How to track down an item left on a bus, train, tram, or taxi by contacting the right transport operator.

Items left on buses, trains, trams, and taxis around Eastern Kentucky are usually handed in to the operator's lost property team — the trick is contacting the right one quickly.

  1. Identify the operator. Note the route, line, or company and the rough time. Each operator runs its own lost property process.
  2. Submit a lost property report. Use the operator's online form or phone line as soon as possible; recovered items are logged against your description.
  3. For taxis and rideshare, contact the driver or company directly through your booking or app receipt.
  4. Keep your reference. Save any report number so you can chase it up.
  5. Post a listing. Add a listing for Eastern Kentucky in case a fellow passenger picked it up.

Lost: Airline near EKU campus, Richmond, KY

I lost my airline ticket this evening, around 5:30 pm, in the parking lot behind EKU's White Hall Student Center in Richmond. It's a slim, white ticket with a red airline logo and a crease along the edge. I was unloading groceries from my car after a long day in class, and I must have dropped it between the trunk and curb. I'm anxious about missing my flight, and I hope someone found it and turned it in to the campus desk.

Lost Document Holders near Pikeville City Center

On Monday at 7:45 p.m., I left my Document Holders in the passenger seat after a quick stop at the Pikeville City Center in Eastern Kentucky, near the fountain at the east lot. I wandered over to a bookstore across the street and when I got back to the car, they were gone. The holders contain essential papers, IDs, and notes from a conference, so losing them has me stressed and a little overwhelmed. If anyone happened to see them or picked them up, I’d be grateful for any clues that help reunite me with them.

Lost collars in Eastern Kentucky

On Tuesday around 7:45 p.m., I realized my dogs' collars were missing from the trunk of my car outside the courthouse on Main Street in Hazard, Kentucky. We had just finished a short hike in the Daniel Boone National Forest, and I had taken the collars off to stretch the dogs' legs. The blue nylon collar with a reflective stripe and a red leather collar with a paw-print tag mean the world to me because they help keep my dogs safe. I walked up and down Main Street, calling their names and checking the hedges by the sidewalk, hoping someone picked them up and kept them safe. If they’re found near Hazard’s downtown river trail, I’d love to see them back with us.

Lost Passports in Eastern Kentucky

Left behind a blue US passport after a hike at 3:15 p.m. yesterday near the Pine Mountain State Resort Park lodge. I must have set it down on a bench by the visitor center while I checked my map. The cover is deep navy with the U.S. seal; pages inside show stamps from recent trips. I'm stressed about upcoming travel and really hoping the finder turned it in to the park staff or the lost-and-found so I can replace nothing more than my identity.

Lost sandals in Eastern Kentucky

I’m Avery Lane, and I realized I’d lost my sandals around 5:15 p.m. Saturday on Main Street in downtown London, Kentucky, after a short hike at Levi Jackson State Park. I had taken them off for a quick air-out, and when I looked back they were gone. They’re tan leather with a blue strap and a small scuff on the left sole. I’ve worn them for years, and losing them on a busy street after a long drive around this corner of Eastern Kentucky leaves me frustrated and a little embarrassed, but I’m hoping they’re nearby. If you found them near Levi Jackson State Park or along Main Street, please keep them safe and let me know through the site.

LOST swimsuits near Pine Mountain pool, Eastern Kentucky

I was at the Pine Mountain State Resort Park pool around 6:30 p.m. last Friday with friends, and I must have left my swimsuits on a lounge chair. When we came back, the row by the pool had cleared out and the bright blue swimsuit top along with the striped bottoms were gone. This trip was meant to be a quick family weekend, and losing these suits feels like losing a small piece of the memory. If you found them near the pool area outside the Pine Mountain Lodge or by the concession stand, please bring them to the site so I can claim them.
