Lost something on public transport?

How to track down an item left on a bus, train, tram, or taxi by contacting the right transport operator.

Items left on buses, trains, trams, and taxis around Danville are usually handed in to the operator's lost property team — the trick is contacting the right one quickly.

  1. Identify the operator. Note the route, line, or company and the rough time. Each operator runs its own lost property process.
  2. Submit a lost property report. Use the operator's online form or phone line as soon as possible; recovered items are logged against your description.
  3. For taxis and rideshare, contact the driver or company directly through your booking or app receipt.
  4. Keep your reference. Save any report number so you can chase it up.
  5. Post a listing. Add a listing for Danville in case a fellow passenger picked it up.

Lost holiday decorations on Main Street, Danville.

I lost my holiday decorations last night in Danville. Around 9:15 p.m. on Friday, I had just unloaded the car and set a red tote near the entrance to Danville Museum of Fine Arts on Main Street. The tote held string lights, a garland, and a few sentimental ornaments. These decorations are special to my family, and I’m really hoping they turn up since they help bring back memories of Christmas gatherings with my grandmother. If anyone found the tote or its contents, I’d be grateful if they could help me recover them near the museum.

Navy blue passport in black leather sleeve

I lost my navy blue US passport yesterday around 3pm after leaving the Danville Library on Main Street and wandering into the Coffee Nook on Oak Avenue. It’s a standard US passport, tucked in a black leather sleeve with a small coffee ring on the front cover and a tiny dent on the lower-right corner. Inside the back cover there’s a faint sticker of a mountain that I added for a quick spot check. This passport has sentimental value for me and I really need it back—it's essential for an upcoming work trip and I don’t want to miss my flight.

Blue ceramic mixing bowl with white interior

I lost my blue ceramic mixing bowl, about 10 inches across, from my grandma's kitchen set. It's a glossy blue glaze with a white speckled interior and a tiny chip on the rim near the handle. There's a small faded star decal on the bottom that makes it unique. It has huge sentimental value - my grandmother used it for Sunday baking every week, and I really need it back. I last saw it yesterday around 3pm near the Farmer's Market on Main Street in Danville; if anyone picked it up, please drop me a note.

Tan leather journal with teal ribbon bookmark

I’m really hoping someone picked up my tan leather travel journal with a teal ribbon bookmark and a tiny brass compass charm on the spine. I lost it yesterday around 3pm near the corner cafe on Main Street in Danville, just outside the Danville Public Library. It’s about 5 inches tall and 3 inches wide, with a worn cover and the ribbon sticking out between a few travel notes tucked inside. Inside are a few photos and a passport-style pocket with old tickets. It’s sentimental—grandma gave it to me, and the notes mean the world; if you found it, email [email protected] and we can arrange a pickup.

Stainless steel skillet with blue silicone grip

I lost my 12-inch stainless steel skillet yesterday around 3pm. It's a Calphalon skillet with a bright blue silicone grip on the handle and a copper-bottom shine. I last had it near the Danville Library on Main Street, just outside the Farmers Market entrance, while I was grabbing a coffee and browsing mixing bowls. The skillet is in good condition aside from a small dent on the rim and a coffee stain near the base from last week's tea brew. This skillet has sentimental value—it was a gift from my grandmother, and I really need it back. If anyone found it, please message me; I can meet near the library or at the town hall.

Blue denim jacket with white star patch

I lost my blue denim jacket yesterday around 3pm in front of the Danville Library on Hartz Ave. It's a Levi's trucker jacket, size M, a bit faded, with a white star patch on the left chest and a tiny snag near the cuff. The zipper still works, but the hem shows years of wear from daily use. It means a lot to me because it was a gift from my mom for my internship, sentimental value and all. If anyone found it, I’d really appreciate it getting back—it's my go-to coat for chilly Danville evenings.
