On Monday at 6:20 p.m., I was walking back toward the CMU library after a late class when I realized my pendants were missing from my jacket pocket. They’re two small silver pendants, a heart and a star, both gifts from my grandmother. I retraced steps along the Chippewa River Trail behind the student union, checked the benches, and scanned the path, but the fading light and chilly air made them vanish.
