Lost pet — how to find them fast

A fast, practical plan for finding a lost pet, plus the shelters and microchip registries to contact.

When a pet goes missing in Bristol, speed and visibility are everything. Most lost pets are found close to home within the first day.

  1. Search the immediate area. Check nearby gardens, sheds, and quiet spots. Bring treats and a familiar item, and call calmly.
  2. Alert the microchip registry. Flag your pet as missing with the microchip database so your details are current if they're scanned.
  3. Call local shelters and vets. Phone shelters, pounds, and veterinary practices around Bristol and ask them to note your pet's description.
  4. Post online and on lost-pet databases. Share clear photos in local community groups and lost-pet services.
  5. Put up visible notices. A simple poster with a photo, the area, and a contact number still works.
  6. Post a listing. Add a lost-pet listing for Bristol so found-pet reports nearby surface alongside yours.

Lost Avians near Bristol Harbourside

Hello, I am Emily Carter. I lost my Avians yesterday around 6:45 p.m., near Clifton Downs and the Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol. They slipped from their cage when a cyclist rode past and vanished into the hedges; I have been checking the parks, streets, and Harbourside since. They are two small green budgerigars who love to chatter, and I am worried they are scared and have drifted into busy spots. I am hoping they will spot a familiar face and fly back toward Millennium Square, where I last saw them.

Bearded dragon orange-yellow morph—lost in Bristol

I lost my bearded dragon Milo yesterday around 3:15pm near Park Street, outside the University of Bristol Students' Union, by Nando's. He's a small orange-yellow morph with a slightly orange beard and blue-tinted scales along his back. About 10 inches from snout to tail, with a faint blue mark behind his left eye that's easier to spot when he's stressed. He tends to curl up in a warm rock hide, so if you saw him sunning himself on the pavement or tucked under a cafe chair, please let me know. It has sentimental value to me—I've had him since he was a hatchling—and I really need him back.

Border collie Milo missing near Wapping Wharf, Bristol

Lost my border collie Milo yesterday around 6pm near Wapping Wharf by the Harbourside in Bristol. He's a medium-sized dog, mostly black and white, with a white blaze on his chest and a small nick in his left ear. He wears a blue nylon collar with a round brass tag that says 'MILO' and a phone number. He has heterochromatic eyes—one blue, one brown—and a tiny scar on his right hind leg from a tumble last month. I last saw him near the water by the M Shed area and then he bolted toward Spike Island. I'm really worried—Milo is my constant companion and means a lot to my family. If you spot him, please message me here or check the tag.
