Lost your phone? Step-by-step recovery

Carrier contacts, Find My / Find My Device, and the local steps to recover or secure a lost phone.

Losing your phone in Bellingham is stressful, but acting quickly improves your odds of getting it back and limits the damage if it's gone for good. Work through these steps in order.

  1. Locate it remotely. Use Find My (iPhone) or Find My Device (Android) from another phone or computer to see the phone on a map, play a sound, and mark it as lost. Lost Mode locks the device and shows a contact message on the screen.
  2. Lock and message it. If it's nearby, the sound may be enough. If it isn't, enable Lost Mode and add a phone number where you can be reached.
  3. Call your carrier. Report the phone lost so they can suspend service and block the IMEI. This stops anyone running up charges and flags the handset across networks.
  4. Change key passwords. Update your email, banking, and social passwords, especially if the phone wasn't locked. Sign the device out of those accounts where you can.
  5. Report it locally. File a report with the police non-emergency line for Bellingham — a crime reference number is often required for insurance claims.
  6. Post a listing. Add a lost-phone listing for Bellingham so anyone who finds it can reach you privately.

Keep checking the map periodically — a phone that's off may reappear when it's charged.

Black Anker PowerCore 10000 charger

Yesterday around 3pm I realized my black Anker PowerCore 10000 portable charger was missing near the Mount Baker Theatre area on Cornwall Ave, outside the entrance by the bus stop. It's a compact black rectangle, palm-sized, with the silver Anker logo on the front and a small dent on the bottom-right corner. I also stuck a tiny blue whale sticker on the back so I could tell it from others. It has sentimental value—my sister gave it to me for solo trips—and I’d really appreciate getting it back so I can stay powered up when I’m out and about.

Red Nintendo Switch Lite with blue case, missing

Yesterday around 3pm, I realized my red Nintendo Switch Lite was gone. I had it on the counter at the Starbucks on Cornwall Ave in downtown Bellingham, and by the time I got back to the car it wasn't there. It's in a black protective case with a blue silicone grip on the edges, and there’s a small cartoon rocket sticker on the back that’s hard to miss. The console is in good condition apart from a couple of micro-scratches on the shell. It means a lot to me—it was a gift from my sister and has sentimental value, so I’d really appreciate any help finding it.

iPhone 12 Pro in slate with cracked screen

I lost my iPhone 12 Pro around 3pm yesterday near the Starbucks on Cornwall Ave in downtown Bellingham. It's in a clear case with a small enamel wave sticker on the back. The screen has a crack along the bottom-right corner, and the case shows a tiny dent at the lower edge. Inside there are a few family photos and a note from my mom, so it’s really sentimental to me and I’d love to have it back. If anyone finds it, I’d really appreciate getting it back; I can meet up near the Bellingham Public Library or the Starbucks on Cornwall Ave to pick it up. Email me at [email protected].

Lost red and black Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 audio interface with cables near picnic tables at Fairhaven Park.

I lost my Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 audio interface while I was packing up after a jam session at Fairhaven park in Bellingham. I believe I left it on the ground near the picnic tables around 5 PM. It's red and black with some cables still attached. I really need it back for my recordings, so if you find it, please let me know!
