Lost something on public transport?

How to track down an item left on a bus, train, tram, or taxi by contacting the right transport operator.

Items left on buses, trains, trams, and taxis around Hawaii are usually handed in to the operator's lost property team — the trick is contacting the right one quickly.

  1. Identify the operator. Note the route, line, or company and the rough time. Each operator runs its own lost property process.
  2. Submit a lost property report. Use the operator's online form or phone line as soon as possible; recovered items are logged against your description.
  3. For taxis and rideshare, contact the driver or company directly through your booking or app receipt.
  4. Keep your reference. Save any report number so you can chase it up.
  5. Post a listing. Add a listing for Hawaii in case a fellow passenger picked it up.

Lost belt near Waikiki Beach, Honolulu, Hawaii

I was hiking Diamond Head Summit Trail and trudging along Kalakaua Avenue near Waikiki Beach around 9:15 am last Saturday when I realized my belts were missing from my backpack. It’s a simple black leather belt with a silver buckle, nothing fancy but essential to how I dress and feel put-together. I retraced my steps along the beachfront, checked the benches by the Duke Kahanamoku statue, and even peered under a few vending carts, but the belt didn’t turn up. Losing it today left me feeling a little off, so I’m hoping this finds its way back to me.

Lost sculptures near Waikiki Beach, Honolulu

On Friday around 6:15 p.m., I was strolling along Kalakaua Avenue near the Hilton Hawaiian Village when I realized my sculptures were gone from my tote. There are three pieces: a small dragon in sunset glaze, a spiraling abstract form, and a standing hula figure; each about 12 inches tall. I spent the next hour retracing steps along Waikiki Beach, from the Duke Kahanamoku statue to the Kuhio Beach showers, hoping to find them. The evening light turned the water copper and my heart sank; these works mean a lot to a local project, and I'm desperate to have them back.

Lost chargers at Ala Moana Center, Honolulu, Saturday afternoon

On Saturday around 3:40 PM, I realized my chargers were missing somewhere around the Ala Moana Center in Honolulu. I had just wrapped up a quick meeting and was heading to the parking lot when I noticed the chargers were gone from my tote. They include a black USB-C wall charger in a gray pouch and a spare cable; I rely on them daily for work, and this hiccup is stressing me out as I prepare for a client call. If anyone handed them in near the Food Court or Macy's, please drop them at the lost-and-found.

LOST: Toasters in Hawaii.

I woke up early and started my day in Waikiki. Around 7:30 a.m. today I left two white toasters with a black dial on the counter in our building's shared kitchen on Kalakaua Avenue, just a block from Waikiki Beach. One toaster has a small dent on the left corner; the other shows a coffee-stain finish on the chrome. I must have walked out after breakfast, and now I’m hoping someone picked them up and left them somewhere reachable. It means a lot to have them back, since they’re part of my daily routine and memories of home.

Lost passport in Waikiki, Hawaii

Hello, I’m Leilani Kahele. Yesterday around 6:45 p.m., I realized I’d misplaced my passport while strolling near Kuhio Beach in Waikiki, by the Duke Kahanamoku statue. I’d paused at a bench along Kalakaua Avenue and think I left it there. It’s in a black leather cover with a small Hawaii sticker inside. I’m feeling overwhelmed and anxious, as I’m far from home and this document is essential.

Sunburst koa ukulele with pineapple inlay

I lost my sunburst koa ukulele yesterday around 3pm near the Duke Kahanamoku statue at Kuhio Beach in Waikiki. It's a concert-sized instrument with a satin sunburst koa finish, a pineapple inlay around the soundhole, and a small dent on the lower bout. There’s a tiny pineapple sticker on the back and a blue woven strap with a white wave pattern attached to the strap button by the heel. I learned to play it here, and it means a lot to me—it's been in the family for years and was a gift from my grandmother, so I’d really appreciate getting it back. If you found it, text me at 808-555-0142 or email [email protected].
