Lost your phone? Step-by-step recovery

Carrier contacts, Find My / Find My Device, and the local steps to recover or secure a lost phone.

Losing your phone in Western Kentucky is stressful, but acting quickly improves your odds of getting it back and limits the damage if it's gone for good. Work through these steps in order.

  1. Locate it remotely. Use Find My (iPhone) or Find My Device (Android) from another phone or computer to see the phone on a map, play a sound, and mark it as lost. Lost Mode locks the device and shows a contact message on the screen.
  2. Lock and message it. If it's nearby, the sound may be enough. If it isn't, enable Lost Mode and add a phone number where you can be reached.
  3. Call your carrier. Report the phone lost so they can suspend service and block the IMEI. This stops anyone running up charges and flags the handset across networks.
  4. Change key passwords. Update your email, banking, and social passwords, especially if the phone wasn't locked. Sign the device out of those accounts where you can.
  5. Report it locally. File a report with the police non-emergency line for Western Kentucky — a crime reference number is often required for insurance claims.
  6. Post a listing. Add a lost-phone listing for Western Kentucky so anyone who finds it can reach you privately.

Keep checking the map periodically — a phone that's off may reappear when it's charged.

LOST: GPS Devices in Western Kentucky.

This afternoon around 3:20 p.m. I realized my two GPS devices were missing from my backpack while I was downtown Bowling Green. I likely left them on a bench outside the Warren County Public Library on State Street. They’re small and black, with one in a red protective case and the other in a damaged screen cover. They hold maps and saved routes I rely on for work, so I’m anxious to get them back. If you found them, please know they matter a lot to me and I’ll be checking the library Lost & Found first thing tomorrow.

Black Sony Handycam HDR-CX405 with red heart sticker

I lost my black Sony Handycam HDR-CX405 yesterday around 3pm outside the Greenwood Mall on Scottsville Road in Bowling Green, KY. It was in a gray neoprene sleeve with a red heart sticker on the top edge, and there is a small scratch on the LCD screen. I had it under my arm while I grabbed coffee near the food court entrance. The cam is compact, and there is a blue label with my initials PP on the bottom of the grip. It's the only camera I own for my campus journalism project, and it holds footage I can't redo. If anyone found it, I'd really appreciate getting it back. Email [email protected] if you've seen it.

I lost my PlayStation 5 while I was taking my kids to the park in Western Kentucky. I had it in a black carrying case, and I think I may have left it on a bench when we were playing. The PS5 is in great condition, and I still have the controller and all the cords with it. If anyone finds it, I would really appreciate you contacting me!
