My holiday decorations carry a lot of memory—my grandmother loved Christmas, and these ornaments feel like her. On Saturday around 11:15 a.m., while unloading at our cabin along the Port Townsend waterfront on the Olympic Peninsula, I left a crate of decorations on the porch. We got distracted by a dog and some hot cocoa, and by the time we returned, the crate was gone. The box had a handmade wreath, a string of lights, and a few heirloom ornaments wrapped in tissue.
