Lost wallet or purse — immediate steps

The first moves to make when your wallet or purse goes missing — cards, ID, and protecting yourself from fraud.

A lost wallet or purse in Northeast SD means two jobs at once: stopping fraud and replacing what's gone. The first hour matters most.

  1. Freeze your cards. Open each bank's app and freeze or cancel every debit and credit card. Most apps let you lock a card instantly and order a replacement.
  2. Check for unfamiliar activity. Review recent transactions and report anything you didn't make.
  3. Protect your identity. If ID was inside, take steps to guard against identity theft and consider a fraud alert or protective registration.
  4. Replace your ID and licence. Start replacements for your driver's licence or ID card through the relevant authority for your area.
  5. Retrace and report. Contact the last places you visited in Northeast SD and report the loss to the police non-emergency line if it may have been stolen.
  6. Post a listing. Add a lost-wallet listing for Northeast SD — many wallets are handed in and reunited this way.

Tan Fossil wallet with blue interior, compass charm

I lost my tan Fossil wallet yesterday around 3pm near the NE Plaza Starbucks on 4th Street NE in Northeast SD. It's a slim bi-fold in tan leather, with a blue interior and a small compass charm hanging from the zipper pull. I know it’s a little worn around the edges, and there’s red stitching along the outer seam. Inside are my driver's license, a few credit cards, and a tiny photo of my grandmother—it all matters to me, especially since it was a gift from her. If anyone happened to see it or picked it up, I’d really appreciate getting it back; I’m hoping to meet up at Riverside Park or North Market Square to swap it over in person.

Ray-Ban Wayfarer glasses, tortoise shell

Yesterday around 3pm I realized my Ray-Ban Wayfarer glasses were missing. They're tortoise shell with a gold-tone bridge and the Ray-Ban logo on the temples. One small scratch on the left lens and a tiny dent on the bottom of the right temple—still functional, just noticeable. I last had them near the Cornerstone Cafe on Main Street NE, right by the Northeast SD Community Library. They mean a lot to me—gift from my grandfather—and I would be beyond grateful to get them back.

Brown Coach wallet with ID slots

I lost my brown pebbled leather Coach wallet yesterday around 3pm near the Starbucks on Main Street in Northeast SD, by the transit center. It's a slim bi-fold with a small coin pocket, and the front bears a tiny Coach logo; the inside has a yellow ID window and a faded blue library-card slot. There's a faint coffee stain on the back corner and a tiny green thread snag along the edge — one of the few distinguishing marks I can rely on. This wallet has serious sentimental value — it was a gift from my grandmother, and I really need it back. If anyone finds it, I'd really appreciate getting it back.

Black key organizer with blue USB drive

Lost my black KeySmart-style key organizer with four keys yesterday around 3pm. There’s a bright blue USB drive clipped to the side and a small round dog-tag engraved with the initials 'PP.' The oldest tool, a slightly worn brass house key, is also on the ring. I think I dropped it near the Northeast SD Medical Center area, around East 5th Ave NE by the Riverside Market plaza. This ring has my apartment key and my work USB, so I’m really hoping to get it back soon—it's important and has some sentimental value.
