Lost your phone? Step-by-step recovery

Carrier contacts, Find My / Find My Device, and the local steps to recover or secure a lost phone.

Losing your phone in Los Angeles is stressful, but acting quickly improves your odds of getting it back and limits the damage if it's gone for good. Work through these steps in order.

  1. Locate it remotely. Use Find My (iPhone) or Find My Device (Android) from another phone or computer to see the phone on a map, play a sound, and mark it as lost. Lost Mode locks the device and shows a contact message on the screen.
  2. Lock and message it. If it's nearby, the sound may be enough. If it isn't, enable Lost Mode and add a phone number where you can be reached.
  3. Call your carrier. Report the phone lost so they can suspend service and block the IMEI. This stops anyone running up charges and flags the handset across networks.
  4. Change key passwords. Update your email, banking, and social passwords, especially if the phone wasn't locked. Sign the device out of those accounts where you can.
  5. Report it locally. File a report with the police non-emergency line for Los Angeles — a crime reference number is often required for insurance claims.
  6. Post a listing. Add a lost-phone listing for Los Angeles so anyone who finds it can reach you privately.

Keep checking the map periodically — a phone that's off may reappear when it's charged.

Black DJI Mini 3 Pro drone with blue remote grip

I lost my black DJI Mini 3 Pro drone yesterday around 3pm after a quick test flight in Griffith Park, near the Observatory parking lot on Mount Hollywood Dr. It's compact, about the size of my hand when folded, with a matte black finish and a small scratch on the camera housing. I also have a blue silicone grip on the remote and a Starfox sticker on the battery door—easy to spot if you know what you're looking for. There's a tiny dent on the bottom left landing leg. This drone was a gift from my sister, so it has sentimental value, and I’d really appreciate getting it back.

Black wireless earbuds with charging case

Hey, I lost my black Sony WF-1000XM4 wireless earbuds yesterday around 3pm. I think I dropped them near the Dolby Theatre in the Hollywood & Highland Center area on Hollywood Boulevard. The case is matte black with initials 'LJ' engraved on the back and there’s a tiny dent on the top corner; one earbud has a slightly worn tip. They’re in good condition otherwise, and it was a gift from my sister, so it really means a lot to me. If anyone picked them up, please drop them at the security desk around the corner or message me here — I’d be forever grateful.

Black Anker 65W GaN charger with USB-C

I lost my black Anker 65W GaN charger yesterday around 3pm near the Starbucks on Melrose Ave at La Cienega in Los Angeles. It's a compact matte black brick with USB-C and USB-A ports, about the size of a small bar of soap, and it has a tiny dent on the bottom left corner plus a faint circular scratch near the USB-C port. On the back there's a small white sticker with my initials 'PK'. This charger is essential for my daily work and has sentimental value because my sister gave me a similar one years ago. If anyone found it, I'd really appreciate getting it back.
